How to Make 'Just Add Water' Pancakes Better
- 1). Use milk or apple juice in place of the water.
- 2). Add 2 Tbsp. oil or melted butter or margarine per cup of dry mix, adjusting the amount to your taste. Mix in along with the water.
- 3). Mix 3/4 cup pancake mix and 1/2 cup old-fashioned or quick-cooking oats for oat pancakes. Stir in 1 cup of water.
- 4). Whisk 3 Tbsp. peanut butter per cup of dry mix into prepared batter for peanut butter pancakes.
- 5). Add spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves or a combination. Start by adding 1 tsp. cinnamon or 1/4 tsp. nutmeg or cloves per cup of dry mix, then taste the finished batter and add more spices to taste.
- 6). Mix berries, chopped fruit, chopped nuts or chocolate chips into the batter. Stir 2 to 4 tbsp. per cup of dry mix into the batter, or sprinkle add-ins over the pancakes immediately after pouring them onto the griddle.
