How to Take a GE Profile Dryer Apart
- 1). Unplug the electrical cord of the GE Profile dryer from the electrical outlet before attempting to take the dryer apart.
- 2). Pull the dryer door open and locate the screws underneath the top lid. Unfasten the screws with a screwdriver.
- 3). Flip the top lid back so it rests on the rear hinges.
- 4). Locate the screws on the top of the front panel on the inside of the cabinet. Unfasten the screws and tilt the front panel away from the cabinet. Unfasten the door switch connector from the back of the front panel, pulling it off the metal prongs by hand.
- 5). Lift the front panel up and off the dryer cabinet and set it aside.
- 6). Locate the shroud cover below the dryer drum. Remove the shroud cover, unfastening the screws with a screwdriver.
- 7). Identify the idler arm and motor pulleys at the base of the dryer. Move the idler arm forward to relieve the tension on the belt. Take the belt off the motor and idler arm pulleys as well as from around the drum.
- 8). Remove the dryer drum from the cabinet by placing one hand underneath the bottom of the drum in the back and your other hand on the top in the front. Lift the drum up from the back to remove it from the slot in the rear panel.
