• Matheran is a hill town in the Indian state of Maharashtra. In the town motorized vehicles are not allowed. Due to its proximity to the metropolis of Mumbai (formerly Bombay), Matheran is a well known getaway destination for Mumbai residents. In the past Matheran was a British resort area.
