How to Repair the Interior on a Cracked Frigidaire Refrigerator
- 1). Remove all the items in the refrigerator and unplug it. Allow it to come to room temperature. Meanwhile, clean it out and dry it thoroughly.
- 2). Drill a hole on either end of the crack. This will keep it from spreading further.
- 3). Put gloves on and place aluminum tape over the crack to make a smooth surface. Spread the epoxy over the surface in a light layer as evenly as possible. Use the spatula to feather it out a bit on the edges.
- 4). Allow the epoxy to dry for 6 hours and then sand it smooth. Cut a piece of fiberglass mesh just large enough to cover the crack. Apply another layer of epoxy. Allow it to dry and sand again. Use one more epoxy coating.
- 5). Allow the surface to dry for 24 hours. Wipe it clean of dust and let air dry. Use an appliance paint that is formulated for extreme heat or cold. Cover the patch, feathering out the edges so it is not noticeable.
- 6). Let the paint dry for 24 hours and then plug the unit back in. Allow it to fully come back to temperature before you put items inside.
