For the advanced rider, special guided back country tours out to natural dry powder snow areas are available, with adrenaline rushes and exhilarating views of Lake Wanaka and Mt Aspiring guaranteed.
The Skiing Areas Treble Cone is made up of three ski areas - with breathtaking and unrivalled views from the highest points of the mountain: 1.
The Main Basin - Groomed runs and an easy gradient make this field more suited to beginners and intermediate skiers and snowboarders.

Saddle Basin - The runs start to get steeper on the Saddle Basin offering fantastic powder bowls and gullies for freeriding snowboarders and skiers.
3.
Motatapu Chutes - The Chutes are not accessible by chairlift.
They are extremely steep, fresh snow filled, wide and long - certainly not recommended for beginners and intermediate users.
Some areas are patrolled, while others are not.
For your own safety, back country equipment such as probes and shovels are required at this level.
Facilities Treble Cone also has a range of facilities available from the Main Basin level including: transport, modern chairlifts, bar & cafe and internet facilities, along with ski and snowboarding gear available for rent.
Accommodation however is not available on Treble Cone, but the nearby towns of Wanaka, Glendhu Bay and Albert Town have a range of options to suit every budget and taste.
The winter season in the Wanaka region commences from late June to late September.
