How to Charge iPhone Batteries
- 1). Dock your iPhone to your computer with its white USB cord. If you have older iPod cords, these will not work. Make sure that your computer is on or the battery will not power up. It will take approximately two hours to charge the battery to 80% capacity and another two hours to fully charge.
- 2). Calibrate your battery once a month by using it until it dies completely. This will synchronize the fuel gauge so that it will accurately report how much charge your battery has left. Avoid letting your battery die more than once a month. Lithium-ion batteries work better with regular partial rather than complete discharges.
- 3). Optimize your iPhone settings so that you will have longer charge cycles. Tap the "Settings" icon, and turn off the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Push notification, and EQ settings for the iPod feature when not in use. When on, they drain the battery even when it is not in use. Lower the brightness of the screen and turn on the "Auto-Brightness" feature, which will adjust your screen's brightness according to the level of light.
- 4). Use your iPhone battery regularly to maintain its health. If you use a portable battery charger to extend the life of your battery, do not leave it endlessly charging. It is important to keep the electrons within your battery moving. Once you have fully charged your iPhone, remove it from your computer so that the battery can exercise itself. Leaving it docked while at 100% charge does not extend the life of your battery.
