How to Open an iPod Nano 2G
- 1). Purchase a small plastic opening device (see Resource). It is important that this device is used because it is made specifically for the purpose of opening iPods without damaging or scratching them.
- 2). Insert the prying tool into the plastic bezel at the top of the iPod and gently pry it out. Do the same on the bottom of the iPod.
- 3). Remove the two screws found behind the bezel on the top of the iPod. Do the same to the two screws on the bottom of the iPod.
- 4). Pry out the headphone jack from the bottom of the iPod. Be very careful--there is a small ribbon cable that attaches it to the logic board, so it will not come completely out of the iPod.
- 5). Pry the headphone jack ribbon cable out of its connection by gently pushing it with the prying tools toward the nearest inside wall of the casing. It should release from the logic board very easily. Be careful not to damage the ribbon in any way.
- 6). Remove the screw found behind the headphone jack.
- 7). Push the logic board from the bottom of the iPod out through the top using the screwdriver or prying tool. It should slide out easily.
