How to Tell If Your Television Has a Digital Tuner
- 1). Look for one of these markings or logos in the front of rear of the TV-- "DTV," "Digital Tuner," "HDTV," "Digital Receiver," "Integrated Digital Tuner," "Digital Tuner Built-In" or "ATSC." You can also look at the user manual, "digital" should be listed as one of the TV's features.
- 2). Look for the manufacturer date. The FCC required all TV's produced after 2007 to come complete with a digital tuner. If the TV was produced after that date, it should have the necessary digital components.
- 3). Ask a salesperson or look for the analog notice. The FCC requires all retail outlets that are still selling old analog inventory to clearly display that the set is analog and a salesperson must be honest about whether or not the TV is digital.
- 4). Contact the manufacturer. The manufacturer can tell you by phone whether or not the TV is digital. You can also access the manufacturer's support section online and look up information about the TV. When you contract the manufacturer, you must have the TV model number.
