LCD Size Vs. CRT Size
- When it comes to the screen's diameter, there are few differences between CRTs and LCDs. Most stores sell TVs of all sizes in either format, so picking up a large or small TV won't be an issue.
- CRT displays require large amounts of hardware in order to operate, so they are typically much bulkier. Many CRTs measure at least two feet deep and take up large amounts of space. In contrast, LCD displays only consist of a screen and minimal internal hardware.
- Because CRT displays are bulkier, they also tend to be considerably heavier. For example, a typical mid-30-inch CRT weighs more than 200 pounds. By comparison, a mid-40-inch LCD weighs around 50 pounds.
