Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) - The Cause & a Solution

6
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) means lacking in attention abilities.
You may be familiar with this type of behavior from when you were in grade school.
Can you recall the student who frequently interrupted the class? You know, one who got caught throwing a paper airplane or chatting when the teacher was explaining history.
And, when the teacher became frustrated, the teacher told the student to face the corner in the back of the room.
And if that did not work, the student was made to stand outside the classroom door for the duration of class.
And of course, when the student pushed the teacher's final button, the teacher gave that student a one way pass to the office.
This escalation of teacher discipline was all in the name of student behavioral change.
In the 21st Century, this type of student behavior is known as ADD.
Children with ADD are hyperactive.
And all these years we thought that hyperactivity came from consuming too much sugar.
According to Dr.
Frank Lawlis, author of The ADD Answer - How to Help Your Child Now, a student who gets into fights and challenges authority is not hyperactive because his/her brain is in high gear, it is that the student is trying to get his/her brain into high gear.
Let us take a look at the brain and how it functions.
The brain shifts into one of four different states from being awake to falling asleep.
You may have heard of the Beta State.
We experience this state everyday when we wake up.
During this state, we think and solve problems while our brains operate at 13 hertz.
In the Alpha State we relax or calm down.
Maybe we are praying or meditating.
Of course we can be doing other things in this state also such as putting our feet up and day dreaming while sipping on a cappuccino.
In this state, our brains measure around 8-12 hertz.
Then comes the Theta State.
This state occurs right before we fall asleep.
During this state, our creativity is at its peak and we can solve problems without the conscious mind getting in the way.
Our brains run at a mere 4-8 hertz.
Finally, we enter into the Delta State.
This state is when we are asleep and our bodies have a chance to heal themselves.
In this state our brains bottom out at 0.
5 hertz.
This brings us to a very important point.
Dr.
Lawlis says that children with ADD experience their awake hours in the Alpha or Theta State.
In order for these children to push their brains into the Beta State, they must create excitement.
You know, the kind of excitement that gets them into trouble - such as hitting a classmate, throwing spitballs or talking while the teacher is talking.
Teachers view the aforementioned activities as unacceptably disruptive.
Disruptive behavior in school can lead our children into a lifetime of facing control mechanisms.
These mechanisms in the 21st Century are usually prescription drugs with side effects.
Side effects can affect your child as well as you.
Your child may experience stunted growth and bouts of depression and/or anxiety, to name just a few.
You may lose time from work on account of your child's behavior in school and spend unnecessary money in order to "correct" it.
Many times parents are frustrated and compelled to think out side of the box when drugs fail.
Parents who are fed up and forced to educate themselves through observation, and with the help of doctors, support groups, and scientific researchers.
After parents go through the educational process, they find other viable solutions with or without drugs.
Dr.
Lawlis is one who believes that drugs are not the only way to treat ADD.
He takes into account diet, environment, and technology.
He gets the parent and child interactive in his program.
The parent's role may be to clean up the child's diet and environment at home.
The child's part may be to play games while learning to control and correct ADD symptoms.
Dr.
Lawlis is the creator of the Bio-Acoustical Utilization Device (BAUD).
BAUD creates sonic waves that work with brain frequencies maneuvered by an electroencephalogram (EGG).
Basically, this device enhances concentration, memory, and metabolism.
This piece of equipment is good for ADD, ADHD, depression, and anxiety.
The best part is that this unit is small and your child can use it in the comfort of your home.
We do not have all the answers to solve our childrens health concerns.
But through education, diet, environment modification, and the use of technology, we will find many answers.
