How to Troubleshoot an RCA VR5220

1
    • 1). Check if the batteries are inserted incorrectly if the recorder will not start. If they are, remove them and reinsert them correctly. If the recorder still does not turn on, remove the batteries and replace them with two fresh AAA batteries. If the recorder still does not turn on, check the lock switch on the top of the recorder. If it is set to "Lock," switch it to "Unlock."

    • 2). Check the recorder's memory if you cannot record. If you have 99 recordings in one folder, that folder is full and you cannot record any more in that folder. To erase recordings, press the "X" key, then press either the forward skip or backward skip button to choose "DEL 01" to delete a single file or "DEL ALL" to delete all files from a folder. You can also select "FORMAT" to erase all files from the player.

    • 3). Check what recording quality setting you have the recorder set to if recording time is shorter or longer than you want it to be. Press and hold the "info/menu" key for about two seconds, then release it. When "FOLDER" flashes on the display, press "info/menu" repeatedly until "LP," "SP" or "HQ" appears on the display. Press the skip forward button or the skip backward button to choose one of the three options. "LP" stands for "long play," which allows for the longest recording time but produces the lowest quality of recording. "SP" stands for "standard play," which allows for less recording time but better quality. "HQ" stands for "high quality," which allows for the shortest recording time but the highest quality. Press the stop key when you decide on a setting.
