How to Load Film in a Pentax
- 1). Place a lens cap on the front of your Pentax camera lens. Place the camera on a table resting on the front of the lens so the camera back is pointing straight to the ceiling.
- 2). Pull up the film rewind knob on the top left of the camera; lifting this straight up will open the camera's back door and reveal the film cavity.
- 3). Remove the film from its protective plastic container and place the metal canister into the left side of the film cavity.
- 4). Pull the film leader from the canister so it just covers the back of the camera and is just touching the take-up spool on the opposite side of the camera.
- 5). Pull a little more film out of the canister and feed the leader into the take-up spool, making sure the guide holes on the film line up with advance sprockets in the camera.
- 6). Leave the film door open, press the shutter release button and slowly advance the film lever, making sure the film is properly feeding into the take-up spool.
- 7). Close the back film door; make sure you hear it click. Press the shutter release two more times, advancing the film each time. This will ensure there is an unexposed strip of film in place inside the camera. Look in the frame number window and make sure it reads "1."
- 8). Open the small rewind handle on the camera's rewind crank. Carefully rewind the film to take up any slack; do not crank too hard or you may rip the film. Secure the rewind handle and you are ready to start taking pictures.
