• Lumix is the brand name for all digital cameras manufactured by Panasonic, ranging from the point-and-shoot models through the single lens reflex systems. The Lumix DMC-FS15 is an ultra-compact point-and-shoot camera introduced in 2009. Point-and-shoot cameras are designed to be light, compact and easy to use for photographers who want to take snapshots.
  
  

Lens

• Like all of Panasonic's digital cameras, the Lumix DMC-FS15 features a lens from Leica, a camera and lens manufacturer that makes equipment for advanced amateur and professional photographers. This camera has a 29 mm wide-angle lens with a 5x zoom. All of the focusing is done automatically within the lens.
  
  

Flash

• The camera has an automatic built-in flash system with a red-eye reduction feature. There is no hot shoe for attaching external accessories.
  
  

Sensor

• The sensor in a digital camera is is where the image is recorded, the equivalent of film. The DMC-FS15 sensor has 12 megapixels. It automatically adjusts the camera's aperture, or lens opening. The ISO ranges between 80-1600, allowing the camera to be used in both low-light and bright conditions. The ISO setting can be expanded to 3200 or 6400, which could be used for shooting in very low light or for shooting action photos, but these two settings must be selected manually.
  
  

Shooting Modes

• The DMC-FS15 has 26 different shooting modes. They include options such as portrait, self portrait, sports, night scene and fireworks. Photographers wanting to experiment with more artistic shooting modes can use settings such as pinhole, which simulates shooting with a pinhole camera, or film grain, which adds texture to the image and makes it less sharp. Movie mode gives the option of shooting video clips.
  
  

Memory

• The built-in memory is 50 MB. An expansion slot accepts an SD card for additional memory
  
  

Viewfinder

• There is no viewfinder on the DMC-FS15. Images are composed and viewed on a 69 mm LCD screen with 230,000 pixels.

• The camera is available with a silver, black or blue-brushed metal finish.
