Function

• The Department of Energy provides safety training for its employees and outside contracted companies through the National Training Center. Employees and outside contracted companies train to work with nuclear facilities. They receive learning in such areas as emergency response plans, electrical safety and how to handle nuclear materials appropriately.
  
  

Types

• Nuclear Safety Fundamentals is a course that trains technical employees to understand safety regulations and recognize potential nuclear threats. They also learn how to put necessary control measures into place to contain problems. Operational Safety & Accident Analysis is another course that deals with analyzing events that caused various accidents. Participants learn to take apart incidents according to individual behavior, facility problems and related issues that create dangerous situations.
