How to Assemble an Antenna Mast
- 1). Mount your antenna on a section of mast pipe. Each pipe section has a female end and a male end. Mount the antenna right-side-up so that a male pipe end is at the bottom.
- 2). Spray all the male ends of the mast pipe sections with the WD-40. While this step is optional, it greatly eases the assembly of the mast pipe, and may make it possible to the antenna mast without a helper.
- 3). Connect the sections of mast pipe. You may need a helper to hold one section while you connect another to it. You may also need to use the hammer and wood block (or a rubber mallet) to firmly seat the sections together. The wood block or rubber mallet prevent deforming the female ends of the mast pipe sections, as this prevents them from easily connecting when another section of mast pipe is added. Connect the mast section with the antenna last. The assembled antenna mast is now ready to be erected.
