How to Adjust KYB Shocks for Drag Racing

2
    • 1). Decide what setting your vehicle needs for drag racing. There are 10 settings on KYB shocks, "1" being the softest and "10" being the stiffest. The stiffest setting allows very little movement from the shocks. For most vehicles, the front settings can be between "1" and "3." The rear shocks need to be more stiff than the front and should be set between "7" and "10."

    • 2). Open the hood and find the dials that were installed with the shocks. They are on top of the shock towers on each side of the engine. Use the screwdriver that was supplied with the shocks or a flat screwdriver to press down lightly on top of the dial and turn it until the white dot rotates to the number you want. Lift the screwdriver off of the dial and the shock is set. Do this for the left and right shock.

    • 3). Open the trunk and repeat the above steps. The shock towers in the trunk are on the floor of the trunk near the inside of the rear tire wells.

    • 4). Test the adjustment by launching the car from a stopped position to feel how stiff or soft the suspension is. If the rear bounces too much, adjust the shocks to a more stiff setting.
