  Keene Valley, known as "Home of the High Peaks," is a small mountain town in Upstate New York. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy the area's rock and ice climbing, cross-country skiing, camping and fishing. Many people visit Keene Valley to hike the Adirondack Park trail system. One of the trails leads to the summit of Mount Marcy, the highest mountain in New York. Whichever outdoor sport you enjoy, the town boasts a few restaurants to satiate your appetite.
  
  

The Ausable Inn

• The Ausable Inn is a family-friendly restaurant with eight lodging rooms available year round. You know you are within the "blue line" when the lunch menu offers dishes like the High Peaks Chicken Salad, or the Guide's Burger. Dinner entrees include steak, chicken, fish and pasta. Seating is inside, or in the warmer months outdoors on the patio. Adjacent to the dining room is a full bar.

The Great Range

• The Great Range opened in 2007 and is in the center of town. Its lunch menu offers an extensive array of sandwiches and fresh salads. Among the dinner appetizers are scallops with a pinot gris butter, and escargot with cognac cream sauce. Its eclectic dinner entrees include venison bangers and mash with brown sauce. Other entree choices are pork, risotto, fish, pasta and veal. Once a month the restaurant hosts a wine tasting with live music.

Noon Mark Diner

• Noon Mark Diner has long been a staple for locals and tourists who live and visit the heart of the Adirondacks. An unpretentious diner, it serves up home-cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week. Ever since its opening in 1981, the Noon Mark has been well known for its homemade breads and pies. The pies are now available through mail order from its website. Need to catch the bus out of town? You can find that here too. The diner is also the Adirondack Trailways bus terminal.
