How to Create an Isometric Pattern
- 1). Start the Paint application. Click the drop-down menu in the upper right corner of the Paint window and click "Properties." In the dialog, make the size what you want for a section of your pattern. This section will be one complete tile, with the sides matching top and bottom in what is known as a seamless tile.
- 2). Select the "Polygon" tool from the toolbar at the top and set it to "Fill" with "Solid" color. Then set the color to white and draw a tilted square to the left center of the canvas. Then change the color to gray and draw another rectangle on the right that is a mirror of the one on the left. Complete the cube by drawing a white square at the top.
- 3). Draw more rectangle/cube parts all around the center cube, staggering them like bricks to produce your pattern. Save your work as a JPEG.
- 4). Click "Ctrl+A" to select all. Then click the "Copy" button. You can now create a larger document that is the size you need for your background image and "Paste" in multiple tiled copies of the pattern you just created. Save your work as a JPEG.
