How to Get Rid of Dead Pixels on Samsung Rear Projection Units
- 1). Turn on the Samsung TV and locate the dead pixels. Dead pixels can appear as black, red, blue or green dots. Depending on the model, the TV may have test patterns that will help you locate dead pixels. If not, switch to an image with large blocks of primary color areas. Cartoon DVDs are a good choice.
- 2). Place the tip of your finger over the dead pixel and gently rock it back and forth. This moves the liquid around inside the pixel. If the pixel doesn't come back to life, proceed to the next step.
- 3). Wrap the end of a ballpoint pen in a soft cloth and press the tip against the dead pixel. Make sure the point on the pen is retracted.
- 4). Turn off the Samsung TV. Place the end of the cloth-wrapped pen over the area with the dead pixel and press down lightly.
- 5). Turn on the TV while depressing the pixel. If the dead pixel remains, repeat this procedure using a bit more pressure. If it remains after several tries, the last resort is tapping.
- 6). Turn on the TV and tune it to a blank, black screen. Tap the dead pixel firmly with the cloth-wrapped pen. If you don't see a white flash on the screen as you tap, you are not tapping hard enough.
