How to Remove Moisture Stains From Granite

19
    • 1). Remove newly created moisture stains with a mixture of mild liquid soap and warm water. Combine the soap with the water until it begins to lightly suds. Saturate a sponge with the mix and then wring it out so that it remains damp without dripping the cleaner. Wipe the stained granite with the mix, cleaning away the light moisture stain with the soap. Rinse with a sponge damp with clean water and then pat the surface dry with a soft piece of cloth.

    • 2). Remove older stains with the application of a mixed cleanser paste. Mix 2 tbsp. of the mild liquid soap with 1 cup of white flour. Add water to the mix until you have an easily spread paste with the consistency of toothpaste. Lightly mist the stained area with water and then apply the paste over the stain and about 1/2 inch of the surrounding area with a rubber putty knife to a thickness of about 1/4 inch. Cover the paste with a piece of plastic sheeting to prevent it from quickly drying out and allow it to sit in place between 12 and 24 hours to absorb the stain from the granite surface.

    • 3). Uncover the paste and scrape it from the granite with the putty knife. Wash the surface with the soap and water mixture, rinse and pat dry. Examine the stained area in about 12 hours to determine the removal effectiveness. If signs of the stain remain, then repeat the paste application process until the stain disappears.
