  A clean sink is a happy sink.You may be washing vegetables or leaving your dinner dishes in the sink, but keeping it clean is important. Preparing foods in the sink requires proper sanitation. Using non-abrasive natural ingredients such as vinegar and baking soda may keep your sink clean and your drain unclogged. Not attending to the sink may spread bacteria and cause illness for you and your loved ones.
  
  

Baking soda

• Find baking soda at any grocery store. Baking soda is a safe way to clean. It's used as a scouring powder for kitchen and bathroom surfaces. You can also freshen your sink by pouring two tablespoons of soda and warm water down the drain. To clean the surface of the drain, gently sprinkle the baking soda on the surface. Use a wet towel and clean the surface.
  
  

Vinegar

• Vinegar is another natural product to clean the sink and drain. You can purchase a bottle of white distilled vinegar at any local grocery store. Vinegar kills bacteria, germs and mold. Being environmentally clean and cheaper than most cleaners, using vinegar may save money and the environment. Pour one hot cup of vinegar down the drain. Let sit for about five minutes. Baking Soda and Vinegar

• The most effective way to clean a sink drain and keep it open is by combining the two products for double the impact. Combining both baking soda and white vinegar is safe compared to dangerous chemicals. And in a pinch, it's a good way to unclog the sink. Start by placing a 3/4 cup of dry baking soda down the drain. Pour one-half a cup of vinegar down the drain. Cover the drain with a plug or rag. The combination should cause a reaction that will serve as a type of "volcano." By covering the drain, you're keeping the contents in the drain. Let the solution sit for 30 minutes. The final step is to pour hot water down the drain to clear out any residue.
