- New York City is a great place to throw parties for kids if you know where to look.Sunset Over Triborough Bridge NYC image by crude from Fotolia.com
There is so much to do and to see in New York City, and yet it can be very difficult to plan a kid's birthday party. Many places are not geared toward kids and others are just plain too expensive. There are, however, a number of places that will work with you to make a party that both you and your child will never forget. - Dylan's is brimming with candy.Candy image by Andreas P. from Fotolia.com
Dylan's Candy Bar is a paradise for candy- and chocolate-lovers. It has more candy options over the course of two full floors than almost anywhere else in New York City. The birthday party package options are set up to accommodate various age groups with various numbers of guests. All of the packages basically include an hour and a half to two hours of time in the party space, a "Candy Craft" activity (an arts-and-crafts-related project for the kids), cake, contests and games with prizes, pizza and drinks, decorations for the room, invitations to the party and a T-shirt for the birthday kid. Larger packages also include a candy machine, an entertainer and a photographer. Not included in the package but available in the attached store and online are party favors of all candy colors and kinds. This is a good choice for a kid who loves a good sugar rush.

nyscience.org - Alice's Tea Cup serves up party fun.tea cup image by studio vision1 from Fotolia.com
This place is heaven for little girls who dream of being princesses or who even just like playing tea with their dolls. The tea parlor is based on "Alice in Wonderland" and is absolutely lovely. Full of tea and desserts, Alice's Tea Cup, in all three of its locations, is as ladylike as it gets. The children's party package is offered all day Mondays through Thursdays and after 3 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The package includes a "wee tea service": Each child gets a scone, various small sandwiches, chocolate mousse and either decaffeinated tea or chocolate milk. For an additional fee, you can add a magician, a face painter, a Mad Hatter, or an "Alice" who will read parts of "Alice in Wonderland" aloud. Specifics vary amongst the locations. Overall, this is an excellent spot for little girls who love the lady treatment.
