How do I Fix the X-Box Flashing Red Lights?
- One flashing red light means a hardware error has occurred; two flashing red lights indicate the system runs a risk of overheating; three indicates either a power supply problem or a hardware problem; four means that the XBox detects no AV cable.
- Unplug the XBox from the wall and unplug everything from the XBox (including the controllers). Reconnect everything. If the problem still occurs, unplug the system and remove the hard disk. Turn on the system to see if the problem still occurs. If the light stays on or if the light goes out when you remove the hard disk, the problem stems from the console or the hard disk: contact XBox Support.
- Unplug the XBox properly and let it cool for one hour. If this does not resolve the problem, contact XBox Support.
- Unplug the XBox from the power box and then the wall. Reconnect the power supply box and plug it into wall. If the power supply box still shows red, allow it to cool for one hour. After that if the three red blinking lights still flash and if the light is still green, red, orange or not illuminated on the back of the power supply box, plug the system into a different wall outlet. If the problem persists, contact XBox Support.
- Unplug the XBox and television and remove the AV cable from the XBox and the television. Plug the AV cable back into the correct spots and plug the XBox and television back in. If the four red lights still flash, try using a different AV cable. If the problem persists, contact XBox Support.
