  As one of the Olympic sports and an ancient tool of hunting and competition, archery has an illustrious pedigree. As well as being a fun outdoors activity, archery develops your balance, coordination and upper body muscles. Barry Eley, who is the performance manager for Great Britain's archery team, believes that one of the main draws of archery is that it is a family sport, where all different age groups can take part together. North Georgia has its own archery circuit, which as well as organizing competitions, runs a fundraiser for "Toys for Tots" every December.
  
  

Clubs in Dawsonville

• Dawsonville is home to not one, but two two archery clubs. Amicalola Bowhunters Archery Club was founded in 1978 in order to sharpen hunting skills. As such, many of the shots are set up to simulate hunting situations. Each year they hold a charity shoot in aid of the Dawsonville Senior Citizens Center.

Soul Hunters Outdoor Ministries

• Started by Kevin Cannon in 2010, this club seeks to use a love of outdoor pursuits as an avenue to preach Christianity to hunters and fishermen. They plan to diversify into fishing tournaments and children's hunting and fishing activities. As a new club, they do not have an official address, instead meeting at the Lake Russell W.M.A. checking station in Stephens County.
