How to Get Tape Off a Couch
- 1). Pick at the edge of the tape with a dull knife or your fingernail.
- 2). Pull the loosened edge of the tape, stripping it off the couch. Gently peel back the tape to prevent fraying the upholstery.
- 3). Scrape any excess tape adhesive off the couch using the dull knife. Remove as much tape residue as possible.
- 4). Dampen a white cloth with a dab of dry cleaning solvent. Use the amount of solvent advised on the instructions by the dry cleaning product's manufacturer.
- 5). Tamp the remaining tape adhesive with the dry cleaning solvent. Continue tamping the adhesive residue until it dissolves entirely.
- 6). Blot the previously adhesive-stained upholstery with another dry, white cloth to absorb any remaining solvent in the upholstery. Thoroughly dry the upholstery. No rinsing is necessary.
