How to Make Reservations to Camp at Grand Teton Park
- 1). Reserve your camping spot online or by mailing in forms (see Resources) if you wish to register in advance. As of December 2010, the fee is $25, and advance reservations run from January 1st to May 15th, every year. After that time, reservations are on a first-come first-serve basis. The National Park Service (NPS) reserves approximately one third of the campground at Grand Teton for advanced reservations.
- 2). Sign up for your camping spot for free in person, same-day, at the Colter Bay and Craig Thomas Discovery and visitor centers. Another option is at the Jenny Lake Ranger Station, which is the only place you can get a permit for overnight camping while climbing or mountaineering.
- 3). Know that peak season at Grand Teton runs from mid-June to mid-July, so be sure to arrive early to ensure you can find a parking spot at one of the approved parking lots. The park is strict about parking violations. Also, you must use a park-approved bear canister for your food, which you can borrow for free from the park.
