- 1). Place small bowls of vinegar in each room affected by cigarette smoke odor. The vinegar removes the smoke odor in the air while you clean other smoke-smelling surfaces. Replace the vinegar with fresh vinegar after a day or two.

Mix 1 cup baking soda into a bucket of hot water. Scrub hard surfaces such as your walls, flooring and hard-surfaced furniture with the baking soda solution. Baking soda is a mild abrasive and natural deodorizer that removes both odor and stains from your surfaces. - 3). Rinse off hard surfaces with a plain, damp cloth. Dry with a clean towel.
- 4). Sprinkle baking soda over your carpeting and non-washable upholstery. Leave the baking soda on the surface for 24 hours to absorb the cigarette smell. Vacuum up the baking soda and repeat the process if any smoke odor remains.

Remove smoke odor from washable upholstery, rugs and curtains by washing with laundry detergent and the hottest water possible to remove cigarette stains. Add 1 cup white vinegar to the rinse cycle to remove the greasy residue and odor caused by cigarette smoke. - 6). Place a couple drops of vanilla extract on a few cotton balls.
