1.Determine what type of material was used for your vehicle's interior. Most of them are leather, vinyl, or a fabric blend that contains sturdy synthetic fibers. Once you determine this, visit your local auto shop, or superstore and pick up a auto interior repair kit that is designed for that material.
2.Note the type of damage to be repaired. Damaged caused by a cigarette burn requires a different approach than a large rip or small tear!
3.Small tears in fabrics - For smaller (around 2 inches or smaller) use the needle provided and select thread that matches the existing interior as closely as possible. Pull the pieces of fabric together, and sew in an €X€ pattern until the rip is closed. The kit will typically include a gel product that can be spread over the repair to help seal it.
4.For larger rips and vinyl upholstery, consider using a piece of fabric (often available in the repair kits) to place underneath the rip. The fabric in the kits is coated with a gel that helps to pull the pieces together. After you have fit the piece below the rip and have pulled the edges together and you have spread the gel to the top of the rip, as well, have something heavy nearby so that you can weigh the section down as dries.
5.For interior repairs due to burns, use the closest matching gel and tool provided to make the damage less noticeable.
