Can Plant-Based Supplements Provide Enough Omega 3?
Most people know that supplementing an Omega-3 product is vital for everyone, and especially important for brain and heart health, but this poses a problem for vegans who don't want to use a fish-oil product.

Now, it's not my business who eats who, but it's my job to point out the truth about supplements so you can make an informed decision.
And sadly, plant-based Omega-3 supplements are often largely a waste of money.
Here's why:
- Many of the popular plant-based Omega 3 products provide a blend of Omegas 3, 6 and 9 in the ratio 2:1:1, which is an incorrect balance that favours Omegas 6 and 9 more than necessary.
- Plant-based products provide Omega 3 in the ALA format, which the body has to then convert to the beneficial EPA and DHA (the formats naturally provided by the high-quality fish oil products).
This process is lengthy, and is actually hindered by Omega 6.
It's estimated that as little as 15% of ALA successfully converts EPA, and may not convert to any DHA at all.
However, not all of these products are created equal.
