Soy Candles Come in All Shapes and Sizes, Too!

21
If you have found yourself browsing through the candle store at the mall or home store you've probably noticed that there's more to candles these days than pillars, containers, and votives.
While these three sizes might take up the bulk of the candles people buy there are many other types of candles that we can enjoy on a day to day basis.
And if we can buy them - we can make them! Candle tarts and tart warmers have been available for many years now.
The tarts themselves are generally made in a shallow mold of wax about the size of a muffin cup.
The tart warmer is usually ceramic or porcelain and is set on top of what is, essentially, a little hot plate.
The benefit to using a tart warmer is that you get to enjoy the scent of the tart without the worry of a flame since the tart does not have a wick.
Soy wax candle tin and melts are also popular especially with women who travel and want to take their scented candles with them.
These small candles are poured directly into a tin that has a fitted top so that once the candle has cooled the lid can be put back on and the candle packed back away.
Although these candles make great travel accessories they are by no means exclusively for those who travel.
They would be great for bathrooms, kitchens, or anywhere.
Or maybe you'd like to combine a bit of novelty with your love of soy wax and use a tea cup as the container for your home made candle! Nothing is impossible as long as your imagination is on the job.
Perhaps you have a set of coffee mugs that are no longer complete.
What better solution than to turn them into a set of soy wax candles and to scent it with cinnamon, or mocha, or even vanilla.
Making these projects isn't difficult.
Preparing the soy wax is similar to other projects.
These are small soy wax projects so your choice of wax is less of an issue.
Once you have your soy wax melt it in your double boiler.
To make the tarts, muffin liners are perfect for this project.
To give them the support they need go ahead and put them inside a muffin pan and spray the liners with vegetable oil so that the candle will release easier.
Once your wax is melted, carefully pour it into the liners and allow it to harden.
The soy wax candle tin and melts are equally as easy and vary from each other in only one aspect - the melts do not have a wick, so technically they are not a candle.
But it's such a cool project we're going to add it on right here.
Once you've chosen a tin with a fitted lid and you have a wick prepared, if you're making a candle, melt your wax and pour it into the tin.
Once the wax cools and hardens you have a wonderful portable candle.
The melt in the tin is created exactly the same except you don't have to bother with setting the wick because the melt is flameless.
Once the soy wax has hardened, you're done.
I hope that having some additional soy wax project ideas helps you see that soy wax can be just has fun and exciting and flexible as other types of wax and that using your imagination and making your own candles is so much more fun than just window shopping at the mall.
