Big Lie - If You Want to Look Like Arnold, Train Like Arnold

1
Today, I'm going to examine one of bodybuilding's most prevalent lies.
This lie isn't going anywhere because, on the surface, it makes sense.
If you want to look like Arnold...
you should train like Arnold.
Right? Actually...
no.
Here's the truth: Arnold's training methods are no secret.
We've all read about his extreme six days per week, twice daily workouts.
We've all read about how he "blasts and bombs" his muscles with hundreds of sets per week.
But have you ever tried to follow Arnold's training routine? I have.
I first got my hands on Arnold's Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding when I was 15 years old.
As a skinny kid desperate to build some bulk, I followed his routine to the letter.
Never missed a workout.
I gained a couple pounds of muscle...
but after six months I looked exactly the same.
So I re-dedicated myself.
I trained harder.
I trained longer.
If it worked for Arnold it would work for me too.
Right? The Cold Hard Truth Although I wouldn't realize it until years down the road, I was wasting my time trying to make my body respond to Arnold's brand of training.
I simply didn't have the genetics to train with high volume and see any results.
I now realize that if you were born with great muscle-building genetics, it means you can train far more often and "get away with it.
" If you can workout six times a week and still recover, you've been blessed with excellent muscle building genetics and an advanced recovery ability.
Good Genetics + Steroids = Rapid Recovery Arnold has admitted to using anabolic steroids during his bodybuilding career.
What most guys don't realize is that steroids actually allow you to work out more often because anabolic steroids aid your recovery ability.
A Closer Look At Bodybuilding's Big Lie So let's take a closer look at one of bodybuilding's biggest lies.
Bodybuilding Big Lie: If you want to look like Arnold, train like Arnold.
We now know that this is false.
(Of course, if you don't believe me and you'd prefer to waste the next six months of your training...
be my guest.
) Here's The Real Story If you want to look like Arnold, then train like Arnold...
but only if you were born with excellent genetics for muscle-building and if you're also taking anabolic steroids.
If you were NOT born with ideal muscle-building genetics...
and you're NOT taking anabolic steroids...
then don't train like Arnold.
Instead, follow a training plan that's proven to work for drug-free guys with crappy muscle-building genetics.
You may not be able to build a body just like Arnold's.
But you can still build an impressive, drug-free physique if you train right for your body type.
