How to Replace the Drive Belt on Scott's Self-Propelled Lawn Mower
- 1). Remove the four screws that hold the large black belt guard onto the mower deck with a screwdriver and then place the mower deck off to the side.
- 2). Locate the tensioning screw mounted to the side of the transmission and turn it counterclockwise with a screwdriver until the belt has enough slack that you can pull it off the transmission pulley.
- 3). Place the mower on its side so the air cleaner faces upward and then pull the drive belt through the access hole in the side of the deck.
- 4). Pull the belt off the pulley mounted on the drive shaft of the mower and then place the new belt onto the drive shaft.
- 5). Place the mower on all four wheels and then pull the belt though the access hole in the mower deck.
- 6). Place the belt onto the transmission pulley and then tighten the tensioning screw.
- 7). Place the cover back onto the mower deck and secure it with the screws.
