Wide-Ranging Impact

• Title IX has affected a many aspects of athletic programs since its passage in 1972. Men's Teams Suffer

• Men's teams have realized a loss of athletic programming while, according to the NCAA, 2007 athletic participation data that measured men and women teams participation over 25 years, "opportunities for men have fallen consistently and significantly in the Title IX era," according to the website IWF. In fact, the data shows that between 1981 and 2005 there was a decline in male athletes per school of 6 percent and a 17 percent decline in male teams per school. On the other hand, there was a 34 percent increase in female athletes and female teams per school.
  
  

Budgetary Reverse Discrimination

• Title IX implementation at the university level has had a decimating impact upon male students that were attending school on athletic scholarships. The result has been a type of budgetary reverse discrimination, where athletic scholarship opportunities as well as current scholarships were taken away from males students on the basis of their gender.
