How to Troubleshoot the Nuvi 200W
- 1). Power off the unit.
- 2). Slide the power key to the left and hold for at least 30 seconds.
- 3). Touch the dot on the white screen when it appears. Some users report that holding a stylus on the dot for a few seconds results in a more accurate calibration.
- 1). Unscrew the black end piece at the tip of the adapter to check the fuse on the vehicle adapter.
- 2). Pull the fuse out of the black end piece. Replace the fuse with a 3A fast-blow fuse.
- 3). Place the new fuse's silver tip into the black end piece, then screw the piece back into the adapter.
- 1). Remove the device from the car.
- 2). Locate a clear, open area and stand stationary for several minutes with the unit powered on. Once a signal is locked in, it should stay locked in even through dense trees or tall building.
- 3). Mount the device back into the vehicle for use.
- 1). Press the "Reset" button located at the bottom of the unit. Do not use a sharp object to press the button, as it could damage the device or battery.
- 2). Turn off the unit.
- 3). Press and hold your finger on the lower right corner of the screen. Keep your finger on the screen while powering on the GPS.
- 4). Remove your finger when prompted to remove all user data, then touch "Yes." The original settings will be restored and all saved data erased.
- 1). Connect the Garmin Nuvi to the computer with the USB cable.
- 2). Visit the Garmin website and download the "WebUpdater" application.
- 3). Run the application and follow the on-screen instructions. The software will automatically detect the GPS and install the appropriate updates.
