How to Replace the Exterior Window Trim on a Volvo S40
- 1). Open the door of your Volvo that has the damaged window trim. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the interior door panel in place. Lift the door panel away from the door.
- 2). Lower the window regulator to its lowest point within the door access panel. The window regulator is a metallic cross-shaped device with a horizontal bar at the top. Use a wrench to remove the two bolts that fix the window to the window regulator. Lift the window out of the door frame.
- 3). Carefully unclasp the clips that hold the window trim in place. Move your hands all the way around the edges of the window and lift the trim away from the four clips. The clips can be found at equal intervals around the window frame.
- 4). Slide the trim stick into the door frame and carefully pull the trim away from the door. Place the new trim onto the window. Attach the trim to the trim clips on the door to secure it in place.
- 5). Put the window back into the door panel. Line it up with the regulator and reattach the two bolts. Place the interior panel back on the door and attach the mounting screws with a Phillips screwdriver.
