Is getting him to commit harder than you'd anticipated? Have you hinted here and there, and he's still perfectly happy leaving things as they are? Some guys can quickly come to take a situation for granted.
If things are going well between you two and you're there whenever he wants to see you and you're doing what pleases him, he may simply come to think it can always be this way; why change anything? If this is the case, consider taking a closer look at the life you've been leading.
Have you let a lot of the things you enjoy doing go by the wayside in order to have more time for him? It might be time for you to return to your old life, not entirely, but substantially.
Enough so that you're out of his hair a good amount of time.
Call up your friends and spend some time with them, or enroll in classes you've been putting off.
Take up a hobby or sport that will keep you busy and happy.
No matter what stage your relationship has reached it's important to always have things and time to call your own.
Over time he'll come to see that you might be thinking of backing away from the relationship.
He'll miss you more and more, and his need to see you will intensify.
This will push him to make the move to see you and can ultimately bring him to make that commitment in order to assure not losing you.
When he realizes that his life is better with you in it than with you gone, it will motivate him to make that move.
You'll have convinced him to commit and he won't even know it came from you.
