How to Reverse Color Fading in Black Jeans

14

Instructions

1

Purchase a quality liquid detergent that is made for dark or black fabrics. Most detergents, particularly powders, contain some form of bleaching agent which causes color fading in your black jeans. For best results, always wash your jeans in cold water, as hot water can also increase fading.
2

Turn your black jeans inside-out before washing and drying to help prevent color fading. Your jeans will get just as clean when turned inside-out; however, they will be less exposed to the elements of your washer and dryer, helping to maintain color.
3

Wash your black jeans on gentle to help prevent wear and tear and excess color fading. Unless your jeans are filthy, they will still get clean on the gentle cycle and will last far longer. You can also help to prevent color fading by hanging your jeans to dry instead of placing them in the dryer. If you choose to hang-dry your pants, have patience and avoid placing them in direct sunlight where they can quickly bleach.
4

Reverse color fading by simply redying your jeans. Clothing dye is inexpensive and easy to use. You can buy a simple black dye in powder form which can be added to your washing machine to get your black jeans and clothing looking like new. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions and rinse your washing machine thoroughly after use.
