How to Connect to an External GPS With an iPhone
- 1). Visit jailbreakme.com from the Safari browser on your iPhone to jailbreak your device.
- 2). Disable 3G networking once the jailbreak process is complete by selecting "Settings," "Network" and sliding 3G networking to "Off."
- 3). Tap the "Cydia" icon on your iPhone home screen.
- 4). Tap "Search," type "BTstack GPS" and then tap "Search."
- 5). Select "BTstack GPS" and then tap "Install" to purchase and install the alternative Bluetooth drivers. The software costs $5 as of November 2010.
- 6). Tap "Settings," "Bluetooth" and slide the built-in iPhone Bluetooth connection to "Off."
- 7). Turn on your external GPS device and confirm that Bluetooth is enabled.
- 8). Tap the "BTstack GPS" icon on your iPhone home screen. The application will scan for and connect to available Bluetooth GPS devices. Once the connection has been established and the GPS device initialized, you can use the map input to find locations and plot navigational directions.
