You can place anywhere from a 6- to 12-digit number on a screening list. When any of the numbers on the list calls, the caller hears a message that the party is not taking calls right now. It tells them to hang up and try again without using the call block. When trying to activate this feature you usually have to dial # and an access code. This code will vary depending on your state and phone service.
- You can also add numbers and take numbers away from your list and you can also turn on and off the call block feature by hitting # and the access code. There are also devices you can buy to put onto your phone that blocks calls if your phone service doesn't have the feature. These devices won't let anyone call that doesn't allow their number or name show up on the caller ID. You can also block your phone number from showing up on someone's caller ID by hitting # and an access code.
- Phone services nowadays have the call block feature, but you still have to activate it and it's good to have if people are bothering you. You can also block a cell phone number from appearing on a caller ID. You just have to let the carrier know that this is what you want; you can unblock it any time you want your number to appear, and then it goes back to being blocked again. It is also important to know that you can hit # and an access code and remove the block feature for one call, and then when you're done with that call it goes right back to being blocked again.

You would not really need this feature added to your phone unless you know that there are individuals that you want to stop from calling you. There is also another feature that works similar to call block called anonymous call. It does the same thing, except your number is blocked all the time.
