How to Get Scratches Out of a Glass Door
- 1). Remove the glass door from its hinges with a screwdriver, and lie the door flat on the ground in an outdoor workspace with the scratched side facing upward. If the door is fragile, place a blanket underneath it to provide it with some cushioning.
- 2). Apply Jeweler's rouge to the polishing pad of an electric buffer. Jewler's rouge is a putty-like substance that can be purchased at most home improvement stores. It dries clear and will help you fill in the scratched area.
- 3). Power on the electric buffer and adjust the speed to medium. Lightly hold the buffer to the scratch. Do not exert too much pressure---pressing down on the glass may damage or break the door.
- 4). Combine two cups of water with ½ ounce of ammonia and pour it into a spray bottle. Spray the mixture onto the glass area that you have just buffed, and wipe it clean with a towel.
- 5). Repeat the buffer process if the scratch has not been entirely removed.
