Engine

• The 2001 Suzuki DR-Z400E is powered by a water-cooled, dual-overhead cam, 398-cubic centimeter engine with four valves. The four-stroke, single-cylinder motor is dry-sump lubricated and uses a Keihin FCR-series carburetor with an accelerator pump. Its bore and stroke is 3.54 inches x 2.46 inches. The engine generates 40 horsepower at 7,600 rpm with 28.68 foot-pounds of torque at 6,600 rpm.

• The DR-Z400E has a chrome-moly tube frame with aluminum subframes. It has 27 degrees of rake and 4.42 inches of trail. The front cartridge Showa forks have 11.4 inches of wheel travel. The rear aluminum-body piggyback reservoir Show mono-shock has 11.6 inches of travel. The suspension is compression, preload and rebound adjustable.
