How to Turn Off Closed Captioning on a Comcast Motorola DVR
- 1). Familiarize yourself with your Comcast remote. Look over the buttons and locate the ones that read "Cable," "Power" and "Menu."
- 2). Aim your Comcast DVR remote at the cable box (not the TV). Press and release the "Cable" button and then press and release the "Power" button. You should see your DVR's display go off.
- 3). Press and release the "Menu" button. This should bring up an on-screen menu. If it doesn't work, try it again. You do have to hit the menu button quickly after you turn the cable box off.
- 4). Look toward the bottom of the list once you have the User Setting screen on the TV. Here you should see "Closed Captioning." Use the up and down buttons to scroll down to this area so that closed captioning is highlighted.
- 5). Change the setting from ON to OFF.
- 6). Turn the DVR power back on, and in a few minutes the box will restore itself and you can enjoy watching your programs without the word-filled black box.
