How to Get a Burned Smell Out of a House
- 1). Open all of your windows, if possible
- 2). Set the box fan in a window close to the source of the burned smell. The fan should be reversed so that it blows air out rather than draws air in.
- 3). Allow your house to air out overnight. This works best when you are looking at a fairly mild burned smell and when you have some time to let the smell waft out
- 1). Fill several bowls full of white vinegar.
- 2). Set the bowls of vinegar in the areas that are most strongly affected by the burned smell.
- 3). Allow the vinegar to soak up the smells. This can take a few hours or a few days.
- 4). Pour the vinegar down the drain
- 1). Squeeze the lemons into the pot. You want to get as much lemon juice out of the lemons as possible.
- 2). Cut the lemon peels into small chunks.
- 3). Throw the lemon peels into the the pot with the lemon juice
- 4). Bring the lemon peels and the lemon juice to a boil.
- 5). Remove the pot from the stove.
- 6). Pour the lemon peels and the hot lemon juice into small bowls.
- 7). Set the bowls in the places where the burned smell is the strongest.
- 8). Allow the lemon juice to soak up the burned smell while also refreshing the air.
- 9). Pour out the lemon juice and throw away the lemon peel.
- 1). Sprinkle baking soda onto any rug or carpet that is retaining the burned smell.
- 2). Leave the baking soda alone for an hour, making sure that no one steps on it. This will allow the baking soda to soak up any unpleasant odor from the carpet.
- 3). Vacuum the baking soda out of the rug or carpet.
