How to Mount an LCD TV on a Brick Wall
- 1). Choose the location you want to mount your LCD TV. Mount it in a location where it will be visible from any furniture. Do not mount the LCD in direct sunlight, and avoid mounting it in areas with excessive moisture or heat.
- 2). Select a mounting kit for your LCD TV. Match the mounting kit to your TV by measuring the distance between the small mounting holes on the back or side of the LCD TV. Match these dimensions to the mounting kit.
- 3). Choose a concrete anchor that will be compatible with the screws that come in the mount. The anchor should fit the type and size of screw. A concrete anchor is a special tool that expands as you insert the screw, which causes a secured connection into masonry joints. You can obtain concrete anchors at most home improvement or hardware stores.
- 4). Hold the mount against the wall in the approximate location of the installation. Match the holes in the mount to the brick area. Try to match all holes into the mortar joints if possible, so you can avoid drilling into the solid brick.
- 5). Use a pencil or piece of chalk to mark the hole locations of the mount onto the brick wall. Mark each hole so you can use this as a guide when drilling. Ensure the mount is level after you have marked the holes. You can use a level tool by placing it across the top of the mount, or level it with your eyes.
- 6). Drill into the hole locations using a masonry drill bit. Make sure the drill is turning clockwise, and apply firm pressure as you drill. Refer to the manufacturer's instruction regarding the depth of the hole and size of the drill bit for the concrete anchors. After you drill each hole, insert the concrete anchor. Use a hammer to tap them into place if necessary.
- 7). Hold the mount over each drilled hole, and make sure it lines up properly. Insert each mounting screw into the concrete anchors. Turn the screws in a clockwise direction to tighten. Secure each screw until you secure the TV to the brick wall.
- 8). Attach the LCD TV to the television mount using the mounting screws provided. Turn each screw clockwise to secure the TV to the wall. Complete the installation by plugging the power cord into an electrical outlet, and installing any TV devices (such as cable TV).
