How to Burn in the DVD Format
- 1). Connect the DVD recorder to a source signal such as a TV or DVD player, by inserting the yellow, white and red plugs on one end of the composite cable into the color matching input jacks on the DVD recorder. Connect the plugs on the other end to the matching output jacks on the TV or DVD player.
- 2). Turn on the TV and tune it to the channel you want to record, or place a pre-recorded, copyright-free disc in the DVD player.
- 3). Insert a blank disc in the DVD Recorder media tray, close the tray and press the "Record" button.
- 4). Press "Play" on the DVD player to start playback when the "Record" light illuminates on the DVD recorder. The DVD recorder's "Record" button should be activated at least 20 seconds before the start of a TV program, since it can take several seconds for the DVD recorder to initialize and get up to speed. As a rule, start playback of the source program only after the "Record" light appears on the DVD recorder.
- 1). Open the computer's media tray and insert a blank DVD, then close the tray. On some Apple computers, insert the blank disc in the media slot, which will draw the disc into the computer automatically.
- 2). Open the software for burning DVDs. On a Windows system, click the "Start" or "Flag" button at the bottom left of the screen to choose "All Programs," then double-click DVD Maker. On a Mac, click "Finder," to select "Applications," then click twice on iDVD.
- 3). Click "New" in DVD Maker or "Import" in iDVD to begin a new recording project.
- 4). Click "Add Files" and click on the name of a video file to add it to the Burn list in DVD Maker. Click the file name in iDVD and click the "Import" button. Click the "Next" button on either software package to advance to the next screen for choosing DVD menu styles and other options.
- 5). Click the "Burn" button to record the video files in the DVD format on the disc.
