How to Connect Ammeters to Circuits
- 1). Insert the plug on the end of the red wire into the “Ah” socket on the front of the meter. Insert the plug on the end of the black wire into the “Com” socket on the meter. Turn on the ammeter.
- 2). Disconnect the opposite end of the positive wire from the power source that’s connected to the electrical device. You may need to use a screwdriver to release the wire from the terminal. Loosen the screw and slide out the wire.
- 3). Attach the alligator clip of the end of the red wire from the ammeter onto the end of the loose wire from the positive terminal of the power source. Attach the alligator clip on the end of the black wire from the ammeter onto the positive terminal of the electrical item.
- 4). Look at the ammeter display panel. The figure in the display is the amperes flowing through the circuit.
