- 1). Determine the make, model and year of the vehicle the rims came from.
- 2). Look on the side of the tire to find the correct size. This will be articulated in inches and the tire size will be the same as the rim size. If your tires are 16 inches, you will be selling 16-inch rims.
- 3). Determine the bolt pattern. The rims on most vehicles take either four or five bolts.
- 4). Take a picture with a digital camera. Make sure picture is clear and any flaws on the rims are visible. Highlighting a slight flaw will make potential buyers confident in your honesty.
- 5). Visit web sites devoted to selling new and used rims and compare your rims to similar types and come to a fair asking price. You may even choose to use one of these sites to sell your rims.
- 6). Advertise your rims. Include the pertinent information you have cataloged in every advertisement you place, and include the picture when possible. Without this information, you will be deluged with phone calls asking about the size and style of the rims. Consider placing the rims in an online auction or list site, using a picture in the ad. To find an auction or a list site, use your favorite search engine and use the keywords "online auction" or "online list site".In addition to online sources, you can place an ad in a local newspaper.
- 7). Display the rims outside your home with a For Sale sign if you feel comfortable doing so in your location. Be aware that you run the risk of theft.
