How To Take Some Stress Out Of Your Daily Life
We all suffer from some type of stress in one way or another.
Whether it's work related, family relationships, school work, it's the one thing we all have in common.
What do you do to relieve some stress? Most people think of the simpler things like taking a walk, or listening to music.
While these are perfectly good, useful things to do, there's lots of other ideas I can give you.
1.
One thing you can do to try to manage your stress is to break big problems down into little ones.
Tackle one area of a problem, then move on to the next.
You won't feel so overwhelmed.
2.
Talking with someone always helps, whether it's a friend or a professional.
If you talk to a friend, make sure it's someone who can be non-judgemental, someone who can just listen.
Sometimes we don't necessarily want advice, we just want to be heard.
Of course, if you're going through a major life change, which causes major stress, you may want to consult a professional.
You'd be surprised that with only one or two visits, they can help you to see things more clearly.
3.
If you need to get things out of your system, go into a private room and scream! Yes, scream, why not? Just like a good cry makes you feel better, so can a good, loud, scream.
If screaming is not something you would do, how about writing your thoughts down? You don't have to show it to anyone, it's just a release.
4.
Procrastination leads to stress.
Why do you procrastinate? Are you afraid of the outcome? Or are you just being lazy? If you're afraid of how something will turn out, there's not much you can do about the result, whatever is meant to happen, will happen.
And remember, this is a favorite saying of mine, "Your thoughts are not reality".
Whatever you're afraid of may only be in your own imagination.
And we all know how our imaginations can run away with themselves! 5.
Are you the consummate "yes" person? Always saying yes to other people will only lead to you always saying "no" to yourself.
How can you have time for you if you're always doing things for other people.
Now, I'm not suggesting that you become totally selfish, but, pick and choose your favors.
6.
Manage your time and get organized.
If you're always rushing off to appointments, that stresses you out.
Leave half an hour earlier than you normally would.
Take a book to read if you wind up with some spare time.
Buy an agenda and write things down.
We all have so much on our minds, we tend to forget things very easily.
Organize yourself the night before, prepare lunch, have all your papers and other things you need right by your purse or briefcase, ready to go.
7.
Focus on one thing at a time.
Some people can multitask very easily.
If you're not one of these people, just accept that and move on.
8.
Take a yoga or tai chi class.
If you can't afford to do something outside the home, do exercise at home.
Take a long walk, do stretches, lunges, scrunches at home.
9.
Take time for yourself every day.
Lunch in the park, time at the library, meditate.
10.
Be tolerant of other people.
We are all different, with different capabilities.
You cannot change someone if they choose not to change, so don't waste time stressing over it.
