You pack on the calories in hopes of adding some fat which will in turn support the new muscle you hope to add to your frame.
You then hit the gym and spend hours and hours lifting weights, making sure you hold true to proper technique.
Yet weeks later you're largely in the same boat as you were when you started.
You haven't gained a single pound and although you're increasing the weight you're lifting (so you must be getting stronger, right?) you can't tell a difference in your physique.

Basic books on weight training delve into muscle building foods but not at the level that a true hardgainer needs.
