How to Connect a Power Surge Protector to Grounding Adapters
- 1). Remove the screw from the faceplate of the electrical outlet. Leave the faceplate on the outlet.
- 2). Plug the grounding adapter into the wall socket, and make sure that the small metal ring (known as "the pigtail") on the adapter lines up with the hole where the screw for the faceplate will go back in.
- 3). Pass the screw through the pigtail and the faceplate, and screw it back into the wall. You have now grounded the socket properly.
- 4). Plug the surge protector into the grounding adapter and turn it on.
